Specificity

This antibody reacts specifically with FAK(Tyr576)

Cross reactive species

Human (Homo sapiens), Mouse (Mus musculus), Rat (Rattus norvegicus)

Antigen Source

KLH conjugated synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human PTK2 around the phosphorylation site of Tyr576

Storage

Water buffered solution containing 100ug/ml BSA, 50% glycerol and 0.09% sodium azide. Store at 4°C for 12 months.

Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

About

Polyclonals can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues. The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera.

Cross Reactive Species details

No significant cross reactivity has been observed for this antibody for the tested species. However, note that due to limited knowledge it is impossible to predict with 100% guarantee that the antibody does not corss react with any other species.

Synonyms

FAK phospho Y576; p-FAK phospho Y576; FADK 1; FADK; FAK 1; FAK related non kinase polypeptide; FAK1; Focal adhesion kinase 1; FRNK; pp125FAK; Protein tyrosine kinase 2; Protein Tyrosine Kinase Cytoplasmic; PTK 2; FAK1_HUMAN; Focal adhesion kinase-related nonkinase; Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 71; PPP1R71; Protein-tyrosine kinase 2; p125FAK.

Advisory

Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody, thus reducing its reactivity, specificity and sensitivity. For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube. Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom.

Background information

Non-receptor protein-tyrosine kinase implicated in signaling pathways involved in cell motility, proliferation and apoptosis. Activated by tyrosine-phosphorylation in response to either integrin clustering induced by cell adhesion or antibody cross-linking, or via G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) occupancy by ligands such as bombesin or lysophosphatidic acid, or via LDL receptor occupancy. Plays a potential role in oncogenic transformations resulting in increased kinase activity. [SUBCELLULAR LOCATION] Cell junction, focal adhesion. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Note=Constituent of focal adhesions.
