Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

About

Polyclonals can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues. The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera.

Advisory

Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody, thus reducing its reactivity, specificity and sensitivity. For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube. Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom.

Background information

Caprin2 is 1127 amino acid highly conserved protein that is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels of expression in brain and spleen. Caprin2 stabilizes cytosolic Î²-catenin and enhances LEF-1 dependent reporter gene activity as well as the expression of Wnt target genes in mammalian cells. Caprin2 promotes LRP5/6 phosphorylation by GSK-3 and enhances the interaction between Axin and LRP5/6. It is suggested that Caprin2 functions as a proapoptotic inhibitor of the cell cycle. Nine isoforms of Caprin2 exist due to alternative splicing events.
