Cross reactive species

Human (Homo sapiens), Mouse (Mus musculus), Rat (Rattus norvegicus)

Specificity

This antibody reacts specifically with SNAI2(Ser155+Ser158+Ser160+Tyr163+Tyr168)

Storage

Water buffered solution containing 100ug/ml BSA, 50% glycerol and 0.09% sodium azide. Store at 4°C for 12 months.

Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

Cross Reactive Species details

No significant cross reactivity has been observed for this antibody for the tested species. However, note that due to limited knowledge it is impossible to predict with 100% guarantee that the antibody does not corss react with any other species.

Synonyms

SNAI2phospho S155/S158/S160/Y163/Y168; Snail 2; Snail-2; Neural crest transcription factor Slug; Slug homolog zinc finger protein; Slug zinc finger protein; SLUGH 1; SLUGH; SLUGH1; SNAI 2; SNAI2; Snail 2; Snail homolog 2; Snail2; WS 2D; WS2D; SNAI2_HUMAN; Zinc finger protein SNAI2; Protein snail homolog 2; Zinc finger protein SLUG.

Advisory

Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody, thus reducing its reactivity, specificity and sensitivity. For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube. Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom.

Background information

SNAI2 is a member of the Snail family of C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factors. The encoded protein acts as a transcriptional repressor that binds to E-box motifs and is also likely to repress E-cadherin. SLUG is involved in epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMT) involving E-cadherin repression which is known to play an important role in tumor progression amd neural tube formation. SLUG also has antiapoptotic activity. Mutations in this gene may be associated with sporadic cases of neural tube defects (referenced from Entrez gene).
